In 2002 we ran away from Illinois where we were born and raised, and started a new life in SW Florida. This blog is about me (an eccentric old artist), ROM (my Real Old Man), Isabella (our neurotic Standard Poodle) and Emmy (our crazy snake killing Jack Russell Terrier). Oh- and the neighborhood old people. Life is good in Florida!

Rain, Dogs, and Xanax...

After days of showers missing us, Friday brought us over 2 inches.  It was the  official beginning of our hurricane and rainy season- thank ya jezzuz it started with a sorely needed day long steady rain instead of a hurricane.

Emmy was telling Isabella she was a big freaking baby for getting the vapors over some gentle rain falling....

But Isabella had her Xanax and she didn't give a shit what Emmy said...

  1. That poor dog. It must be hell for her and you to. She looks pretty relaxed in the last picture, poor thing. I guess you've tried other things like thunder shirts, behavior modification? I'm glad the xanax gives her some relief. The picture of the two dogs together is so cute.

  2. I forgot to mention your plants. You must have a green thumb. Looks like you've got a garden of eden going on. I've never had much luck with plants.

  3. Thunder shirts???

  4. Anon- The key to keeping plants healthy is to use unglazed clay pots with drainage holes in the bottom. Then you never have to worry about over watering, which is what often kills plants. Excess water drains out the bottom and leeches out of the sides, so you can water daily without having to worry about the over watering. Yes, I have tried the Thunder shirt and numerous other things.

Bea- Thunder shirts are a brand of snug shirts you put on dogs and supposedly it helps the dog cope with storms. Didn't do a thing for Isabella.
