In 2002 we ran away from Illinois where we were born and raised, and started a new life in SW Florida. This blog is about me (an eccentric old artist), ROM (my Real Old Man), Isabella (our neurotic Standard Poodle) and Emmy (our crazy snake killing Jack Russell Terrier). Oh- and the neighborhood old people. Life is good in Florida!

Getting Ready For Hurricane Issac

It's almost  1 p.m. and the wind has started

Isabella has her Thunder Shirt on and Xanax in her tummy

Plants have been moved into the lanai and furniture turned over in preparation for the winds.

I'll be updating throughout the day as long as we have power.

  1. Hopefully the track will stay west & things won't be too bad. Hope the storm surge is minimal.

Will keep following you on twitter

    Stay safe

  2. Thanks Ellie- I think the worse is going to miss us

  3. I hope so, it would break my heart to see Anna Maria Island damaged further. Hoping to come back for a vacation next year

  4. Be careful honey. Seriosly. Xo
    Hipeegrl Jana

  5. Anon- So far Issac hasn't been near as damaging as Debby was. But the beaches on the island were so tore up from Debby there isn't much left to damage. Hopefully before next summer the beaches will be renourished and restored. We were just getting ready this afternoon to go check the beaches out when another band of storms moved in with high winds blowing sand so hard that the newscaster who was reporting live had to get off the beach. Hopefully tomorrow will be much calmer and we can get out there to take photos.

  6. Hey Jana- we've done fine other than rain and some wind. We even got a chance to get the dogs out for a walk today in between storm squalls. All in all we lucked out again with no major damage.
